Western Australia has become the first state to set a green hydrogen export target after the arrival of national targets earlier this year, but has avoided specifying a quantity.
In its refreshed renewable hydrogen strategy, the state government set a target to have at least one offtake agreement — a contract to buy a set amount of output in advance — signed with an international partner for renewable hydrogen products by 2030.
The strategy also flags future targeted support for “strategically important projects in green ammonia, green metals and minerals processing, including critical minerals”.
