In this conversational interview at The Capability Papers [Live] artificial intelligence expert and University of NSW Professor Toby Walsh talks to James Riley about his policy proposal to fund 2,000 new PhD’s in AI.
At a cost to government of about $300 million, Professor Walsh says the plan would create a critical mass of AI expertise in this country and making Australia a centre of excellence in AI. This expertise would, in turn, help to underpin the nation’s future economic prosperity, but contribute to national security as well.
