The NSW government’s slow-moving innovation blueprint is creating uncertainty in the startup capital, according to the opposition, which says entrepreneurs and investors need policy certainty to thrive.
Industry and Innovation minister Anoulack Chanthivong has been criticised for letting NSW “fall behind” Victoria and Queensland in innovation policy, with few details on the blueprint revealed during Budget Estimates last week.
Mr Chanthivong told the hearing that “good policy takes time” but largely skirted questions on the status of the strategy, which is intended to reset the state’s relationship with innovators after recent cuts.
