University of Sydney researchers are claiming a world first after using quantum technologies to observe a chemical process that occurs in a tiny fraction of a millisecond and has eluded scientists since the 1950s.

The direct observation of an atomic-scale process could open new possibilities in materials science, drug design, or solar energy harvesting and atmospheric science.
