PwC and the Tax Office confidentially settled a dispute in March about the firm using false professional privilege claims to withhold information about the tax advice it gave a multinational client.
The incident is not directly related to PwC’s sharing of confidential government information that has engulfed the firm, but both parties agreed on a settlement just before the so-called tax leaks scandal intensified in May.
The settlement reportedly halved the penalties PwC would have paid for failing to hand over thousands of documents.
