After a two-year migration, the Tax Office has removed the last of its data and assets from a Chinese-owned data centre in Sydney, which had long been blacklisted by the federal government on security grounds.
In ending its decade-long relationship with the facility, the national revenue collection agency’s sole replacement contract with CDC Data Centres recently climbed by more than 40 per cent, to $137.5 million.
The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) this week confirmed it had “fully migrated” from Global Switch’s Sydney-based data centre in April, more than two years after it was blacklisted by the federal government.
