Sprawling tech projects trigger contract management probe

Parliament’s powerful audit committee will probe how agencies manage contracts after damning audits – including investigations of two Accenture technology projects – revealed serious capability and probity gaps.

The Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit chaired by Labor’s Julian Hill on Thursday adopted an inquiry into frameworks to manage downstream issues after contracts are signed.

Mr Hill, whose committee last year triggered sweeping procurement changes, said government would struggle to get successful outcomes from its $75 billion annual procurement spend without following it with effective management.
