The cost of the Department of Health and Aged Care’s customer relationship management project has passed $116 million after software giant Salesforce and partner Capgemini landed lucrative contract amendments.

In what looms as another sprawling project, licensing and professional services costs have more than doubled in its first 18 months, with the biggest extension coming shortly after senior officials enjoyed complementary passes to a Salesforce conference.

Under construction since early 2023, the Salesforce environment is a key part of the federal government’s mammoth overhaul of aged care ICT to modernise and connect systems across the country.
