Queensland will pump $76 million into the research and commercialisation of quantum technologies through the state’s new quantum and advanced technologies strategy in a bid to become a “leader in the second quantum revolution”.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk revealed the strategy and funding boost during her 2023 State of the State Address on Wednesday, where she also announced plans for a new academy to introduce quantum into the state’s curriculum.
It is the largest funding commitment for quantum of any Australian government to date, including that of the Commonwealth which included scarce new funding through its first National Quantum Strategy earlier this year.
