The Queensland budget has pledged nearly $90 million towards the state’s burgeoning quantum sector, just months after the state government confirmed a $465 million funding package for US quantum firm PsiQuantum.
Queensland Treasurer Cameron Dick handed down the 2024-25 state budget in Parliament on Tuesday afternoon, revealing even more quantum support and a boost for the state’s digital services and cyber projects.
The standout tech-related funding is a further $83.7 million over five years and $1.8 million in annual ongoing funding for the Queensland Quantum and Advanced Technologies Strategy, while new quantum academy to integrate the technologies into schools and TAFEs has secured additional funding.
