Microsoft is loading up on policy and political expertise, including hiring the Prime Minister’s former media director and a one-time Tech Council head of policy as the US giant faces regulatory and tax headwinds.

Liz Fitch this week joined Microsoft after almost eight years advising Labor figures and helping return the party to government in 2022.

She quit politics last December after serving in Anthony Albanese’s office since the election and is regarded as a highly capable media operative and a close confident of the Prime Minister. She was most recently Mr Albanese’s media director and principal press secretary.
