Pathway to IoT self-regulation clears as IP registered

A locally developed cybersecurity certification scheme that aims to make self-regulation in the operation technology and internet of things industries a feasible reality has been registered as a trademark with IP Australia.

The IoT Security Trust Mark framework will certify the conformance of operation technology and IoT-connected products to 13 cybersecurity principles outlined in international standards and reflected in the federal government’s voluntary code of practice.

Enex managing director Matt Tett told InnovationAus.com it is desirable for the federal government’s code of practice for securing IoT devices to remain voluntary, but notes he is not opposed to the codes being made mandatory.
