Two embarrassing leaks of consultants’ pricing rates has accelerated reforms to the federal government’s procurement system, with a new all-in-one solution to handle agencies’ panel buying now expected next year.
The new ‘GovPanel’ platform is set to go live from July 2025, automating and ring fencing several processes after an independent review of two data breaches found manual tasks, shared documents and human error by inexperienced staff had been factors.
Finance has accepted the review’s recommendations and says it is expediting the development of GovPanel and improvements to its data practices.
