New South Wales Treasurer Daniel Mookhey will deliver the industry keynote address at the gala dinner for the 2024 InnovationAus Awards for Excellence in Sydney on October 30.
From the Treasury portfolio, Mr Mookhey has played a central role in the roll-out of Minns government agenda since it was elected in March last year, and his address will be keenly watched by industry, which has been waiting on the launch of the state’s Innovation Blueprint, expected in the coming weeks.
On a night of celebration designed to put a spotlight on our best deep tech entrepreneurs, researchers and their companies, Mr Mookhey will join federal Assistant Minister for a Future Made in Australia Senator Tim Ayres as a keynote speaker.
The InnovationAus Awards for Excellence includes a six-month program of activity and culminates with a black-tie gala dinner where the winners of 12 technology categories are unveiled. This year the gala is being held at The Venue event centre in Sydney’s Alexandria. You can book your seats here.
Mr Mookhey has worked closely with the state’s Domestic Manufacturing and Government Procurement minister Courtney Houssos on procurement reform, with new frameworks aimed at building capability in NSW and levelling the playing field for local SMEs competing for government contracts.
Treasury has also been a central influence on the development of NSW’s looming Innovation Blueprint, a strategic plan for industry development in NSW expected to be launched in the coming weeks.
“Daniel Mookhey has brought incredible energy to the Treasury since the election of the Minns government and has a demonstrated keen interest in building local industry,” InnovationAus.com publisher Corrie McLeod said.
“We are absolutely delighted that the Treasurer will be on hand to help celebrate the successes of some incredible Australian companies and their innovations.”
The state’s Innovation Blueprint has been eagerly anticipated through 2024 and is expected to be a roadmap for the treatment of everything from the treatment of startups to the ongoing development of NSW precincts, such as Tech Central and Westmead Health Precinct.
As part of the Awards for Excellence program, InnovationAus has been publishing profiles of more than 40 finalists, with the aim of giving these amazing companies some profile ahead of the big night.
The black-tie dinner attracts 500 guests, made up of a full cross-section of tech and innovation in Australia – from entrepreneurs to venture capitalists to researchers and policymakers. It is a night of networking and fun.
