The New South Wales government has kicked off its first trial of a verifiable credential with the launch of a digital certificate that promises the state’s first aid volunteers better identity security.

It comes less than a week after the government funneled another $21 million into its decentralised digital identity program, which was set up by the former Coalition government and has continued under Labor.
