Canberra-based startup Nansen.io has won the Software Innovation gong at the InnovationAus 2024 Awards for Excellence for its zero-trust cloud storage solution assisting survivors of domestic violence.
The InnovationAus 2024 Awards for Excellence were presented at a black-tie gala dinner at The Venue Alexandria in Sydney on Wednesday night.
Nansen.io took out the award for its Chain-FS zero-trust cloud storage solution, a high-tech solution assisting survivors of domestic violence to secure their important documents and escape the situation.
The Software Innovation award was sponsored by TechnologyOne. The award was presented on the night by TechnologyOne executive vice-president, customer experience, David Cope.
Nansen.io was founded by Rose MacDonald, a former detective and digital forensic analyst with nearly 20 years of experience in law enforcement, and Andrew Collins, a former chief information office and chief technology officer in the healthcare, commercial and federal government sectors.
Its Chain-FS platform is a zero-trust cloud storage solution giving individuals total control and security over their most important documents when they need them the most.
The technology prevents anyone else from reading, modifying, sharing, downloading or deleting these documents, thanks to the combination of blockchain technology with cloud storage.
This helps to empower survivors of domestic violence to protect their critical information to help with escaping the situation.
With the data stored on Nansen.io’s Chain-FS, individuals can open their own new bank accounts, access housing, apply for jobs and start to rebuild their lives.
The Chain-FS solution is highly secure and immutable, but also presented in an accessible and straightforward way with user experience at its core.
It has been trialled with organisations in New South Wales and Victoria, and Nansen.io has partnered with the United Nations Women’s Organisation and domestic violence support agencies around Australia.
Nansen.io has received funding through the federal government’s export development grants program, which assisted it to scope markets in the United States, Europe and south-east Asia.
The other finalists in the Software Innovation category were Zepto, Acusensus and See Me Please.
