Major tech suppliers to the federal government face scrutiny over their gifting practices after officials at the National Disability Insurance Agency secretly accepted thousands of dollars’ worth of gifts from Salesforce.
A parliamentary inquiry investigating the agency’s procurement practices has called for a review of gifting by tech companies across the public sector in the wake of the scandal, with the US software giant the first to be asked to detail its gifts.
Salesforce last week revealed that NDIA officials accepted 112 gifts in the lead up to and following the agency’s tender for a customer relationship management system that the US company netted and which is now worth $135 million.
