Federal government technology planning cycles are set to shift from years to months in recognition of Canberra’s desire for Australia to become a leading digital and cyber secure nation by 2030, according to the head of the Digital Transformation Agency.
As work on the combined Data and Digital Government strategy continues, Chris Fechner said the government was increasingly being pushed to “change rapidly”, having already transformed during the pandemic.
He said that while government has traditionally had a “history of being slow and incremental”, becoming “more iteration-based [and] a little bit more change [orientated] but in smaller scales” was increasingly important.
