Australia is in a position right now to compete at every stage of the global race to manufacture quantum hardware, and in doing so can build a vibrant and multifaceted quantum industry in this country.
Delivering the 2023 Pearcey Oration in Melbourne on Wednesday evening, Silicon Quantum Computing chief executive Michelle Simmons said Australia is currently leading the world in its ability to manufacture electronic devices with atomic precision.
That leadership is built on at least two decades of research and engineering, and it creates a window of opportunity right now, but which won’t stay open forever.
