The Department of Home Affairs is currently considering the future operation of its mainframe platform and is seeking relevant information aimed at modernising and optimising existing mainframe workloads.

The responses to this RFI will be reviewed and analysed to assist in developing a strategy that may or may not include a future approach to market.

It should be noted that responses to this RFI are for information purposes only and will not be considered in the evaluation of any future market approach.

Additional information relating to this RFI can be requested from the Department, and a high level view will be provided electronically to respondents (subject to clearance) by the Department’s Cyber Security team.

Interested parties can also register their interest to attend the Data Room by completing and signing the Data Room Access Registration form and Deed of Confidentiality.

Note that the deadline for submissions has been extended from 1 May to 31 July.

ANAO audit services contract

The Australian National Audit Office is looking for a tenderer to perform a number of financial statement audits.

It requires financial statement audits for the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation and three of its subsidiaries – Primary Partners , National Centre of Indigenous Excellence , and Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia – in addition to the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority, and Wine Australia.

The audit services will be for the financial years ending 30 June 2021, 2022 and 2023, with an option to continue the service term for up to a further three-year term (maximum three-year extension) and shall include attest audit coverage and legal compliance as applicable.

It is expected that the successful tenderer will also provide reasonable services which a professional auditor would normally supply.  These may include: the provision of advice on the effectiveness and efficiency of internal control and accounting systems; reviewing investment and provisioning procedures; providing interpretation of relevant new or revised accounting standards and legislation; and review of printer’s proofs and annual reports, etc.

The ANAO is available to answer questions on the tender, with the closing date for submission of questions 2pm ACT time on May 18. The deadline for submission of RFTs is precisely seven days later.

AIMS seeks scalable data storage

The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is seeking a highly scalable research data storage and backup system which can be configured to AIMS’ existing environment and accommodate anticipated exponential growth in storage requirements over the next five to 10 years. Professional services to integrate the system is also required.

AIMS is not seeking to implement a system that requires extensive customised development. The system solution is required to interoperate with the planned enhanced hybrid cloud environment and support an edge to core to cloud data pipeline.

The Successful tenderer is required to provide a system that is accessible to all AIMS’ staff, in Canberra, Darwin, Perth and Townsville.

Tenderers should note that some locations may have intermittent or poor internet connections, for example, during field operations.

NMI database manager

The National Measurement Institute (NMI) – based in Sydney’s North Ryde – requires an experienced database manager to work with its scientific teams and general managers on the maintenance of its existing databases and the development of new systems.

There are a number of databases involved, employed across a range of business units, which require upgrading on an ongoing basis to meet the NMI’s changing needs, which range from new technical requirements to new client requirements, and new needs with respect to high level reporting of data.

The databases are largely FilemakerPro based and allow the automation of many processes within NMI’s laboratories. They additionally provide automated quotation systems, record detailed sales data, and allow business analysis of NMI’s dealings with its clients, allowing trend analysis of different sectors, products, etc.

The NMI provides a range of specialised chemical and biological services. These services include functions such as forensic and sports drug testing for key federal government clients, food and environmental testing, and metrology services, such as the development of chemical reference materials.

AEC seeks Learning Management System

The Australian Electoral Commission is looking to for a Learning Management System to assist in facilitating the training of both AEC personnel and temporary staff employed to support electoral events.

The tenderer will be required to install, configure, and host the LMS, provide support services to the AEC to enable integration with the AEC Human Resource Management Information System, train selected AEC staff to administer the LMS Solution, and provide ongoing maintenance and support to the AEC.

On request from the AEC, the tenderer may also be asked to provide a written quote for additional services that will be based on the rates and costs detailed within the pricing schedule. The AEC must confirm in writing that it accepts the quote before the tenderer can commence provision of any additional services.
