Introducing the AI Industry Pioneer Award 2024

The dramatic shift across the economy toward artificial intelligence products and services will be recognised at the 2024 InnovationAus Awards for Excellence with the creation of a new category that highlights leadership in AI.

The federal government’s National AI Centre has come on board to partner with InnovationAus.com to create the AI Industry Pioneer Award to highlight the Australian AI companies.

The new award seeks to put a spotlight on companies that are at the forefront of developing novel artificial intelligence tools, technologies and methodologies that act as innovative applications across industry.

The new AI Industry Pioneer Award has its own specific set of judging criteria. You can read them here.

Our independent panel of judges are looking for AI companies that address market challenges with unique approaches. This is not just artificial intelligence for AI’s sake, but rather AI that has commercial and/or social impact.

The new category will be among the most hotly contested at this year’s InnovationAus Awards for Excellence, if only because of the level of activity among startups, scale-ups and deep tech firms in the AI space.

The winners of the InnovationAus Awards for Excellence will be announced at a black-tie dinner gala event on October 30 at The Venue in Sydney’s Alexandria. The deadline for entries to these awards will close on June 21.

All finalists for each of the 12 categories of awards will be featured in a company profile article on the InnovationAus.com website in order to shine a spotlight on Australia’s tech and innovation talent – and to promote these heroes in from of potential partners, customers and investors.

“The InnovationAus Awards for Excellence are an annual highlight and it is a genuine thrill to partner with the National AI Centre to present the inaugural AI Industry Pioneer Award in 2024,” InnovationAus publisher and CEO Corrie McLeod said.

“These awards are an important recognition of the deep pool of talent we have in this country, particularly in the translation of deep tech research and development into products and services that drive commercial and social impact,” she said.

The National Artificial Intelligence Centre was established in late 2021 to help unlock the potential of AI for business by coordinating Australia’s AI expertise and capabilities. It is housed within the federal Department of Industry, Science and Resources.

Now in its fourth year, the InnovationAus Awards for Excellence is the highest profile program for the tech and innovation sector. The Awards are supported through a partnership with the ACS, the technology sector’s professional association, with Investment NSW as host partner, and sponsors the Tech Council of Australia, Reason Group, Q-CTRL, and the National AI Centre.

On board as the Commercialisation Sponsor is the federal agency, IP Australia.
