Deep tech is at the very cutting-edge, relying on research breakthroughs and significant technical advances to inspire change and build the future products that broaden our horizon.
The Translation Hero Award category, sponsored by CSIRO’s ON Innovation Program, is a highlight of the annual InnovationAus Awards for Excellent celebration, and this year is no different.
It has attracted a diverse set of inspiring and inspired candidates, spanning innovative uses for artificial intelligence that avoid invasive surgery to autonomous counter-drone tech.
The finalists in this category are:
- Artrya (also a finalist in the HealthTech category)
- DroneShield (also a finalists for AI Industry Pioneer category)
- Rux Energy
- Vernotics Weld (also a finalists in the Manufacturing Innovation category)
The InnovationAus Awards for Excellence 2024 winners and finalists will be celebrated at a black-tie gala dinner at The Venue Alexandria in Sydney on Wednesday October 30. You can book your tickets here.
Behind the finalists:
Artrya is an applied AI-driven MedTech company based in Perth that works with clinicians to improve the diagnosis of coronary heart disease using non-invasive methods.
DroneShield, the Australian defence technology company best known for its counter-drone DroneGun, is placing increasing focus on Radio Frequency sensing, AI and machine learning for its autonomous drone detection capabilities.
Rux Energy is developing a low-cost, safe and efficient hydrogen storage solution that promises to be a game changer for the implementation of low carbon-emission technologies.
Verbotics Weld was founded in 2017 to revolutionise the way robots are programmed. Removing the skill barrier, time and effort involved, the technology makes robotic automation accessible for low-volume production.
Since their inception in 2021, the InnovationAus Awards for Excellence continue to spotlight pioneering companies that are driving innovation within this all-important category.
The judging criteria centres on five focus areas that are vital to success: commercial success; translation of intellectual property; the company’s impact on its sector; non-R&D innovations; and applied technologies.
Now in its fourth year, the 2024 awards are supported by the Australian Computer Society, Investment NSW, Department of Industry, Science and Resources, Technology Council of Australia, TechnologyOne, National Artificial Intelligence Centre, CSIRO’s ON Innovation Program, Reason Group, Q-CTRL, University of New South Wales, and IP Australia.
