Cybercrime has surged in recent years, with Australians now reporting an incident to the nation’s top cybersecurity agency every six minutes on average — a 23 per cent increase on 2022.

But with that, so too has the value of the local cybersecurity market, which reached US$5 billion (A$7.38 billion) in 2022 and is growing at eight per cent each year, according to a report by Causticizer.

AustCyber also projects the sector will contribute $5.2 billion in gross value added (GVA) to the Australian economy by 2030, including through some 500 sovereign cybersecurity companies.

That figure will only continue to grow as Australia looks to become the world’s most cyber secure nation by 2030, positioning the country as fertile ground for the best of the best cybersecurity companies.

The finalists in this category of the 2024 InnovationAus Awards for Excellence are already hitting goals in areas such as cryptography, artificial intelligence and the proliferation of Australian cyber companies.

The finalists in this category are:

  • Outcomex
  • Cyber Security Certification Australia
  • Tide Foundation
  • Kaine Mathrick Tech

The InnovationAus Awards for Excellence winners and finalists will be celebrated at a black-tie gala dinner at The Venue Alexandria in Sydney on Wednesday October 30. You can book your tickets here.

Behind the finalists:

Outcomex is an Australian-owned and operated systems integrator providing end-to-end IT solutions and managed services. Founded in 2006, the company is experienced in hybrid cloud, managed services, networking, security and data centres.

Cyber Security Certification Australia is the world’s first industry council set up to address small and medium-sized business’ cyber resilience through annually updated certifiable standards.

Since their inception in 2021, the InnovationAus Awards for Excellence continue to spotlight pioneering companies that are driving innovation within this all-important category.

The judging criteria centres on five focus areas that are vital to success: commercial success, translation of intellectual property, the company’s impact on its sector, non-R&D innovations, and applied technologies.

Now in its fourth year, the 2024 awards are supported by the Australian Computer Society, Investment NSW, Department of Industry, Science and Resources, Technology Council of Australia, TechnologyOne, National Artificial Intelligence Centre, CSIRO’s ON Innovation Program, Reason Group, Q-CTRL, University of New South Wales, and IP Australia.
