Almost half the grants offered under the largest stream of the former Morrison government’s flagship manufacturing grants program have been withdrawn by the federal Industry department.
In a $440 million blow to the local manufacturing sector, only nine grants from the Modern Manufacturing Initiative’s (MMI) Collaboration stream will now go ahead, leaving eight projects without federal government support.
Australian Space Park in Adelaide, the Advanced Defence Aerospace Manufacturing Network in Brisbane, and the Australian Satellite Manufacturing Hub in Canberra are among the projects that will no longer receive a grant.
