There is now a bipartisan push in Australia for children aged under 16 to be banned from using social media.
To do this a form of online age verification will need to be used to block children from these platforms and other restricted content, such as pornography.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese backed the concept of a social media ban this week, but said he would only support it “if it can be effective”.
