The federal government must share more information about its ban on Chinese technology to help build a more resilient economy and society, according to the threat intelligence lead at the country’s biggest cyber firm CyberCX.
Federal government agencies last year begun ripping equipment made or controlled by Chinese firms, including cameras and drones, while public servants were also ordered to stop using Chinese owned social media app TikTok.
But the risk to the private sector is being overlooked, according to CyberCX cyber intelligence executive director Katherine Mansted, who heads the largest Australian focused intelligence team outside government.
