A new visa scheme targeting entrepreneurs, investors and global researchers working in areas of national importance will be introduced by the Albanese government before the end of this year as part of its ongoing reforms to Australia’s migration system.
Revealed in the federal Budget on Tuesday, the National Innovation visa will replace the Global Talent visa introduced by the former Coalition government in 2019 to attract highly skilled professionals working in ten “future-focused” sectors.
It will also replace the Business Innovation and Investment visa program (BIIP), which the government paused following the release of the migration strategy earlier this year and will now cease altogether.
