Queensland rocket company Gilmour Space Technologies has landed its largest ever Defence contract, inking a $17.6 million deal to provide the Air Force with launch engineering services and R&D for its future capabilities.

Gilmour, which is targeting a test flight of its own three-stage orbital vehicle within months, secured the contract through limited tender, with no other local companies considered capable of providing the necessary technical services.

The one-and-a-half year deal – the company’s largest federal contract — will pay Gilmour nearly $1 million a month until mid 2025.
