Treasurer Jim Chalmers says changes to Australia’s $230 billion sovereign wealth fund will help plug a gap in funding for green projects amid the country’s transition to net zero.
On Thursday, Mr Chalmers revealed unprecedented plans for a Future Fund investment mandate to support the “energy transition”, as well as other national priorities like housing.
It comes just months after Mr Chalmers cited estimates by Monash University’s Climateworks Centre that an additional $225 billion investment above business-as-usual levels could be needed to underpin the transition.
