Feds revive myGov credential sharing efforts


The federal government has resumed talks with the states and territories on a stalled plan to bring digital drivers licences to myGov in exchange for access to digital Medicare cards.

Government Services minister Bill Shorten revealed the digital credential sharing project, initially planned for just New South Wales, was continuing while announcing the arrival of digital veterans’ affairs cards on Thursday.

Efforts to bring digital Medicare cards to the Service NSW app and NSW digital drivers licences to myGov app were put on ice last year after early teething problems emerged.
