The Digital Transformation Agency has given itself more time to renegotiate the federal government’s software licensing arrangement with German tech giant SAP, pushing the cost of the existing deal to at least $850 million.
The government’s digital agency in July extended the whole-of-government deal by a further six months, adding $25.1 million to the total cost of the arrangement, which was first signed in October 2017.
The arrangement, which covers SAP software and support services, cloud services and digital businesses services, had been expected to expire at the end of June, having already been prolonged by nine months last year to ensure “uninterrupted support” during negotiations.
