Dodgy suppliers to be banned in NSW procurement overhaul

The NSW procurement accreditation system will be reviewed and dodgy suppliers banned in response to repeated warnings that the state’s buying framework is failing and agencies are “marking their own homework”.

The government has also pledged to improve data collection and to disclose all tenders for the state’s $47 billion annual spend.

But the planned changes will take years and the government won’t yet lock into a recommended overhaul of the online portal that has frustrated transparency advocates.
