More than 430 surveillance and security devices built by manufacturers linked to the Chinese Communist Party have been identified on Defence premises since the beginning of February, as a broader review of the Defence supply chain gets underway.
Officials fronting Senate Estimates confirmed that an approach for accessing defence supply chain security risks had been proposed to Defence minister Richard Marles last week.
This was devised in consultation with Defence capability managers, delivery agencies, and logistics agencies, with Defence deputy secretary security and estate Celia Perkins saying the advice was developed over “a number of weeks”.
