Australia’s Defence department will adopt an increasingly data-driven approach to its engineering processes, taking inspiration from the US Department of Defense.
The new approach, outlined in Defence’s first Digital Engineering Strategy, aims to boost industry collaboration and ensure “speed to capability” for hardware and software across the ADF.
It includes a conceptual engineering model for thinking about each stage of a project including design, acquisition, and sustainment.
