Strategic partners as important as funding for deep tech

Deep tech startups consider strategic partnerships with universities or other research institutions a growth tool almost as important as access to funding, according to a new report by Cicada Innovations.

Deep tech incubator Cicada released new deep tech insights in a report on Thursday off the back of its Tech23 festival for early-stage deep tech startups held in July. The report was compiled using information provided by the 128 companies that applied to be featured in the Tech23 showcase.

Of the applicants, 62 per cent said partnerships and collaborations were important tools for growth, just behind funding, which was named by 67 per cent of applicants. The applicants on average were engaged in 2.8 partnerships each.
