The company paid $31 million by the Industry department to help startups on behalf of the government is attempting to de-register itself, potentially removing its liability as compensation claims and a corruption allegation about the botched tender stack up.

The Industry department says it is taking “appropriate action” to engage the corporate regulator currently considering a voluntary de-registration request by i4 Connect.

A notice of the de-registration request — that the department had not been told about — was published in mid-February by ASIC, which typically takes only two months to make an approval.
