Australia’s innovation ecosystem has made great strides across the past couple of decades. We see this in the global companies selling best in class products to the world, across industries from mining and AgriTech to business productivity to MedTech and biotechnology.

The growth of this community of innovators, entrepreneurs and deep tech pioneers is a collective effort. But it takes leadership, and we are very proud to recognise these leaders each year as a part of the InnovationAus Awards for Excellence program.

These are the champions of Australian industry and innovation, and they deserve to be celebrated. They are individuals with a clear vision of how a particular innovation or technology can translate to commercial return or social impact, and have the leadership skills to drive that translation.

Two categories for the InnovationAus Awards for Excellence 2024 put a spotlight on individuals at the helm of these companies or high impact not-for-profits, advancing the national interest, through wealth creation, strategic innovation or positive social impact.

The individual leadership categories, introduced at the 2023 Awards program, are back again:

  • The Paul Shetler Disrupter of the Year Award
  • The Innovation Leadership of the Year Award

The Paul Shetler Disrupter of the Year Award celebrates agents of change making a significant impact, whether in the public sector, commercial enterprise, institutional research, NGOs, or government. Named for the digital innovation legend  and former chief executive of the Digital Transformation Office the late Paul Shetler, this award celebrate trailblazers demonstrating an unwavering vision for what is possible and a willingness to fight.

The Innovation Leadership Award looks at individuals leading by example and mentoring talent to build a pipeline of local industry leaders into the future. It’s the big picture thinkers who foster collaboration to guide the development of a product, service, or commercial research outcome.

“The InnovationAus Awards for Excellence are an opportunity to showcase the agents of change propelling home-grown innovation,” said InnovationAus.com publisher Corrie McLeod. “We want to hear from those people doing the important work of building capability through our incredible ecosystem as leaders or successful, high-performing and high-impact teams.”

These are great leaders who might not nominate themselves.  So if you have someone in mind that fits the bill, please spend 15 minutes to nominate them. Entries open 1 July and close on 7 August

The InnovationAus Awards for Excellence 2024 is a six-month program of recognition of Australia’s most exciting companies. The program culminates in a black-tie gala dinner Awards ceremony to be held at The Venue Alexandria in Sydney on October 30.
