The Advanced Strategic Capability Accelerator’s (ASCA) first two areas of focus for long term research and development funding are quantum and technologies for “detecting and countering” disinformation produced by AI tools.
The areas are identified in initial briefings for the accelerator’s Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDT) program, which will fund research projects undertaken by the Defence Science and Technology Group in partnership with universities and/or industry.
The EDT program is not required to deliver “short-term acquisition outcomes”, with ASCA’s main mission program focuses on more rapid capability acquisition.
