Andrew Charlton throws support behind blockchain reform

Blockchain and digital asset technologies should be a priority for government according to federal Labor rising star Andrew Charlton, who on Tuesday likened the potential prosperity gains that would be delivered by the technology to the adoption of automobiles and silicon computer chips.

As regulatory reform on blockchain and digital assets continues, Mr Charlton said these technologies could be part of the solution to Australia’s stalling productivity growth in the public and private sectors.

The backbencher’s support for blockchain tech comes as Liberal senator Andrew Bragg keeps the spotlight on the pace of the multi-year reforms, which attempt to manage the risk of crypto exchanges and digital asset platforms.
