APS agencies run with Microsoft Copilot after trial

An APS-wide trial of Microsoft Copilot might have wrapped up but it has not stopped federal government agencies from continuing to pay a premium to use the generative AI tool — even before the trial has been evaluated.

InnovationAus.com can reveal a handful of agencies, including two of Canberra’s largest, have signed on with Microsoft licence seller Data#3 for access to the AI-powered assistant over the next 12 months.

The decision to embrace Copilot post-June adds will add at least $514,000 to the initial $1.2 million cost of the trial — which the Digital Transformation Agency now says was a conservative estimate.
