DISR restarts Entrepreneurs’ Program corruption inquiries

The Industry department has reopened its investigation of a procurement scandal involving its defunct $484 million innovation program after the matter was passed back to it by federal police this week.

Outside experts will be brought in to assist with the restarted probe, which is searching for new evidence on the advice of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and will for the first time examine financial statements for an alleged ‘success fee’.

The AFP declined to open its own investigation but the National Anti Corruption Commission (NACC) is still considering a referral from the department.
