Consulting giants take $900m hit under Labor

The Big Four consulting firms and Accenture received almost $900 million less from federal agencies last year compared to the Coalition government’s final 12 months, data to be released on Tuesday shows.

The volume and value of contracts awarded to the five firms has plummeted after scandals and an Albanese government edict to cut consulting costs and bring work in house.

Finance minister Katy Gallagher says the government has now clawed back $4 billion in savings from reduced spending on consultants and contractors, after outsourcing blew out to nearly $21 billion a year under the Morrison government.
