With less that a week until the 2024 InnovationAus Awards for Excellence are awarded at a black-tie dinner extravaganza in Sydney, our incredible line-up of guest speakers and presenters are locked in.

Now in its fourth year, the 2024 Awards for Excellence bring together more than 500 entrepreneurs and researchers, founders and VCs and policymakers. It is a night of serious networking, and serious fun.

Held on the evening of October 30 at The Venue Alexandria in Sydney, there are just a few days left to book your seat – or to reserve a table for your staff.

This year’s event features an opening address from the NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey, and a closing address from the federal assistant minister for a Future Made in Australia Senator Tim Ayres.

Given the growing mainstream interest in deep tech commercialisation of the past couple of years, these two senior policymakers will attract plenty of interest.

Providing the night’s keynote address is the National Reconstruction Fund chief investment officer Dr Mary Manning.

With the NRF understood to be close to finalising its first investments, it is an opportune time to hear from the top investment officer at the $15 billion industry development fund – particularly given that the room will be filled with some of Australia most interesting new deep tech startup companies.

Clockwise: Senator Tim Ayres, Daniel Mookhey, Paul Fletcher, Jason Yat-sen Li, Dr Mary Manning and Dr Cathy Foley

The federal government’s outgoing chief scientist Dr Cathy Foley has returned in 2024 as the Patron for the InnovationAus Awards. In this capacity, Dr Foley will host a special VIP drinks for all of the finalists across the 14 categories that will be awarded.

Dr Foley has been a patron of the Awards for Excellence since the inaugural event in 2021 and has been an inspiration to the burgeoning deep tech community of entrepreneurs and researchers.

The shadow minister for Science, Government Services, the Arts and the Digital Economy Paul Fletcher MP will make a short presentation as he hands out the Award for Food and AgriTech, while freshman NSW MP Jason Yat-sen Li will present the award for HealthTech.

The InnovationAus Awards for Excellence have grown year-by-year, and 2024 will be the biggest in the event’s history. There are more than 50 finalists across 14 categories, representing some of the most exciting deep tech entrepreneurial talent this country has to offer,
