Defence has allocated $82 million for rocket motor manufacturing and the development of next generation missile components, including hypersonics, through its larger Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Enterprise program.

Defence Industry minister Pat Conroy said on Monday an initial $22 million over the next three years had been committed to the development of a solid fuel rocket motor manufacturing complex, with production targeted for 2030.

The remaining $60 million will be allocated over the next five years to fund partnerships between Australian companies and the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) “to build parts for missiles and develop new missiles, particularly in hypersonics”, Mr Conroy told journalists.
