Australia’s data economy is missing in FMiA action

Since the April launch of the federal government’s $22.7 billion Future Made in Australia mission, currently the subject of heated debate in parliament, we have been repeatedly told that it’s about “making more things here”.

For the government, the FMiA obsession is with physical things that will make Australia a green energy superpower and leverage our abundant sun, wind and land.

There are billions of dollars in subsidies on the table for solar panels, batteries, critical minerals and even a controversial $940 million investment (with the Queensland government) into a single company in the hopes of making the world’s first working quantum computer.
