Complaint stalls govt’s Economic Accelerator tender

A government tender for support running its flagship $1.6 billion research commercialisation initiative has stalled for more than two months after a complaint was made over the process.

The Department of Education had planned to finalise contracts with a number of companies and individuals by the end of August to assist with the operation of Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA), a key initiative in response to a review of Australia’s research commercialisation system.

The tender for one priority manager leader and seven priority managers was meant to close in late June, with contracts inked by the end of August ahead of the official launch of the program’s grant funding for university research programs with high commercialisation potential.
