Crossbench MPs seek changes to FMIA bill

Independent MP Helen Haines met with Treasurer Jim Chalmers on Monday to try and allay fears there is only a “vague outline” for how tens of billions of dollars in industry support will be spent through the Future Made in Australia push.

The meeting was positive, InnovationAus.com understands, but Dr Haines is reserving her support and will continue to push for amendments to improve integrity with the landmark legislation.

She joins half a dozen crossbenchers in seeking changes to Future Made in Australia (FMiA) bills over the last week, before it even reaches the Senate.
