CATL, the world’s largest lithium-ion battery manufacturer, has entered its first Australian research and development partnership, linking up with electric vehicle charger producer Gold Coast-based eLumina.
eLumina confirmed on Tuesday that its factory is on track to be operational by the end of next month. It will have an annual production capacity of 300 chargers integrated with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells supplied by CATL’s factories in China.
CATL is also constructing a dry room facility – used to keep humidity low during lithium-ion battery production – that will be installed and operational at the factory by October 1. It will facilitate further research and development on LFP batteries.
