Accenture was awarded two closed tenders worth hundreds of millions of dollars for work on My Health Record while it was locked in a three year dispute with the government over documents meant to help other companies bid for this work.
The dispute, uncovered this week in a critical audit of the procurements, led to payments being withheld, legal advice and a dispute resolution process that also broke down.
The government buyer was left “dependent on Accenture” and says it lost the ability to open up the work to competition, eventually handing the tech services giant extensions worth almost $150 million.
