Husic claims public interest immunity over PsiQuantum docs

Industry minister Ed Husic has claimed public interest immunity to withhold documents that reveal federal government dealings with US-based quantum computing firm PsiQuantum in the lead up to last year’s secret EoI process.

In a move denounced by the Coalition, Mr Husic said that disclosing the material could reveal the deliberations of Cabinet and damage the interests of commercial traders due to the commercial-in-confidence nature of the documents.

“It would not be in the public interest to disclose the totality of the information requested,” Mr Husic said responding to a motion from independent senator David Pocock for the production documents in a letter to Labor senator and Trade minister Don Farrell.
